Art & Culture
Our beautiful fine arts complex is a visible and dramatic statement on the importance we place on art and culture. But the real evidence of our commitment to the visual and performing arts is what takes place in the classroom each day, not to mention a calendar that is packed each year with performances, concerts, exhibits, and special trips. Baylor is also fortunate to welcome to campus throughout the year authors, choreographers, dancers, musicians, poets, and artists from all disciplines as visiting artists and guest lecturers.
- Plays are produced each fall and spring, giving students hands-on experience in the technical and artistic aspects of a production.
- Our media studies courses include video production, photography, computer graphics and video editing.
- Our dance troupe, Verve´, produces several shows each year. Many of their pieces are choreographed and directed by students.
- Drawing, printmaking, pottery, sculpture, computer graphics and painting are all offered as part of our fine arts curriculum and take place in our fine arts complex.
- Voice and diction, piano, band, string orchestra, and concert choir are among our course offerings. Students interested in music also have the opportunity to perform in string ensemble, concert choir, concert band, and brass ensemble.
- Writers can submit work to or sit on the editorial staff of The Periaktoi, an award-winning literary arts magazine published each year by students. The magazine also features photography and artwork produced by students.
